BILL GATES AND JEFFREY EPSTEIN MET WITH NOBEL COMMITTEE CHAIR

According to Norwegian newspaper DN MAGASINET, Microsoft CEO Bill Gates and Jeffrey Epstein met with former Nobel Committee Chair Thorbjørn Jagland in his Strasbourg residence in 2013. Former Nobel Committee chair Thorbjørn Jagland denied having met Jeffrey Epstein when asked by the current chairperson. An investigation by Norwegian business newspaper DN reveals Jagland was hosting Epstein and Bill Gates in his Strasbourg residence in 2013.

December 2019: Berit Reiss-Andersen, chair of the Nobel Committee, had a question for the members of the committee. Queried by the Norwegian business daily DN, she asked whether they had ever had contact with Jeffrey Epstein, the convicted sex offender and well-connected financier.

Former chair Thorbjørn Jagland, by now a regular member of the committee, was among those answering no.

It turns out the answer was yes.

Not only did Jagland meet Epstein, he hosted him at his lavish residence in Strasbourg, France. At the time, Jagland was the sitting chair of the committee, which awards the prestigious Nobel Peace Prize. Also present: a philanthropist touted as a possible Prize recipient.

ONE OF THE RICHEST MEN OF THE WORLD
As the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Jagland had his own residence, able to host several hundred guests. On the afternoon of March 27, 2013, Jagland hosted a small but exclusive group of very famous people.

One of those attending was Bill Gates, at the time the second-wealthiest man in the world and head of the largest charitable foundation in the world. Since leaving Microsoft a few years earlier, Gates had become a dedicated philanthropist. Having invested heavily to eradicate polio, he was among those mentioned as possible candidates for the Nobel Peace Prize.

In addition to Gates and his assistants, another financier was also present. A person well-known for his network of powerful people and accused of participating in trafficking and sexual abuse.

A convicted sex offender, why was Jeffrey Epstein present in Strasbourg?

SEVERAL MILLION DOLLARS

The Norwegian Business Daily (DN) has spoken to a number of sources familiar with the meeting in Strasbourg, and has reviewed documentation that ties Epstein to the meeting.

According to the sources, Gates and his assistants were already present when the representatives of IPI arrived. Epstein, who knew Gates, was the person that introduced the billionaire to IPI.

The meeting, where IPI introduced Gates to a polio eradication project, was to be very successful. Later the same year, Gates’ foundation granted IPI 2.5 million dollar. Since then, an addition 6 million dollars has followed, according to the foundation. The most recent grant was earlier this year, with an additional 250,000 dollars.

The meeting, in March 2013, happened several years after Epstein pleaded guilty to charges of soliciting a prostitute, with a minor, as well as paying compensation to a number of women. A federal investigation had identified at least 36 victims, according to the Miami Herald.

As early as 2006 as the investigation of Epstein was under way, some politicians had returned money from Epstein. Later, in 2011, the British Prince Andrew was criticised for maintaining his friendship with Epstein. Last year, Prince Andrew stated he showed «poor judgment».

Despite the verdict, Epstein managed to re-enter the elite after serving his sentence. Last year, The New York Times reported that he kept being included among the powerful of New York City. Anchor Katie Kouric and Woody Allen attended dinner at his home in 2010. The following year he attended a party together with among others Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk, founders of Amazon and Tesla respectively. Several notable institutions praised him and boasted of his achievements, including the prestigious Harvard university.

Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway met Epstein several times between 2011 and 2013. Last year, she apologised for not scrutinising his past more thoroughly. Former prime minister Kjell Magne Bondevik of Norway met Epstein at a dinner party in 2013, but declined to pursue funding from Epstein having found out about Epsteins past in a Google search.

Epstein had been suspected of a larger number of crimes than was included in his plea deal. Last year, he was arrested in the US, and charged with further crimes of trafficking and abuse. He was never charged, as he died in custody in August 2019. The coroners found he took his own life.

JAGLAND: GATES AND EPSTEIN ARRIVED TOGETHER

Last fall, DN published a number of articles on the connections between Epstein Norwegian contacts and IPI. Since then the Norwegian Auditor General has opened an investigation into the relationship between the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the think tank. IPI, which has received grants surpassing 130 million Norwegian krones, has several connections to Epstein.

During the last year, DN has asked Jagland a number of questions on his association of Epstein.

— There was no connection, of a financial or any other nature, to the Council of Europe. Any other Norwegian connections, which I understand the article will be about, I have no knowledge of, he wrote in an e-mail November 11, 2019.

After several inquiries this last week regarding new information about the meeting, Jagland confirmed that Gates and Epstein attended a meeting at his residence in March 2013, at an official meeting. According to him, Gates and Epstein arrived together.

— They came to my Residence with their respective delegations. Bill Gates and Epstein arrived together, followed by the others. I made an introduction on the European system for controlling medicines. After that, the conversation advanced further,

Jagland writes in an e-mail.

Epstein was not an active participant in the meeting, according to the former prime minister, explaining:

— Bill Gates asked for a meeting as he visited Strasbourg. He was interested in the Council of Europe’s work to safeguard medicines for everyone. The Council of Europe, carries a very important international convention on this issue, and counterfeit medicines are a big problem, Jagland writes.

Many countries outside Europe have joined the convention, which embraces the institution European Pharmacopeia.

— 350 people are at work in one of the world’s most modern laboratories, and all medicines in Europe are manufactured on the basis of standards from this laboratory. Bill Gates and IPI had entered a collaboration to provide polio vaccines to the vulnerable tribal areas in Pakistan and Afghanistan. They wanted to learn from Europe,

Jagland writes.

At the time, IPI didn’t have a relationship with Gates. The first grant came a few months later, in October 2013. One month earlier, Bill and his wife Melinda Gates attended an IPI event, speaking about the foundations work to fight polio.

— UNFORTUNATE

In December 2019, DN asked the chair of the Nobel Committee, Berit Reiss-Andersen, if any member had had contact with Epstein at any time. Having asked them, she answered that among others, Jagland had never been in contact with Epstein.

— I passed DN’s questions to Jagland and he answered in the negative on any contact with Epstein. Yesterday, Jagland explained there was a misunderstanding, which I accept. Naturally, it’s unfortunate that I gave an answer that turns out not to be correct,

Reiss-Andersen writes Wednesday.

She adds that «it is obviously unfortunate that DN was misinformed».

Jagland explains the omission to Reiss-Andersen as follows:

— When answering Berit Reiss-Andersen in December last year, I had in mind DN’s crazy and absurd conspiracy theory that I had had dinner with this person in Paris in June. There might have been a misunderstanding, which I take full responsibility for, and apologise.

At that time, DN had asked Jagland repeatedly if he ever had met Epstein, including in Paris in 2019.

THE GATES FOUNDATION

DN has presented the Gates Foundation with a number of questions.

— The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation works with the International Peace Institute, an organisation dedicated to promoting peace and security, to gather critical analysis that supports our efforts to improve health in Pakistan and Afghanistan, the communications department wrote in an e-mail Friday.

And following new inquiries:

— The foundation has never had any financial dealings with Epstein. We work with the International Peace Institute, a grantee that supports our efforts to improve health in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Lawyers for Jeffrey Epstein’s estate have not responded to DN’s inquiries.

SAVED LIVES

The polio partnership between Gates and the International Peace Institute still exists. Jagland writes that it has «saved thousands of people living in the most impassable parts of the world».

— I believe it is of great value to make this contribution, given Europe’s involvement in the area.

IPI has several links to Epstein, including through a donation of 375,000 dollars from one of his foundations. Several press releases from Epstein’s organisations are about the partnership with the think tank.

Questions sent repeatedly to IPI president Rød-Larsen about his relationship to Epstein have gone unanswered.

Rød-Larsen did not attend the meeting in Strasbourg, but he is a known acquaintance of Jagland. The two have been friends for several decades, and Rød-Larsen was named a cabinet secretary by Jagland in 1996. When Jagland became ill during a leadership fight in the Norwegian Labour Party in 2002, he stayed with Rød-Larsen and his spouse Mona Juul. At the time, Jagland presented them as «our best friends» in a newspaper interview.

Neither president Terje Rød-Larsen, nor IPI’s communications department, have responded to questions for this story.

NO KNOWLEDGE

According to Jagland, the Gates meeting came about due the Council of Europe’s work with vaccines, but according to Council of Europe head of communications, Daniel Holtgen, he was not aware of the meeting when DN first asked.

— I have no knowledge of this meeting and hence if it happened it was not official Council of Europe business,

he wrote in an e-mail.

After seeing Jagland’s statement, Holtgen writes that the statement it is true, but Holtgen was not involved.

Jagland adds that Gates also met with President of the European Commission with the same agenda, in Strasbourg.

MET THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE
Jagland has not answered questions on whether he has met Epstein besides the meeting in Strasbourg. At an Labor party event celebrating Jagland in November 2019:

— Have you met Epstein?

— I don’t have anything to say as I have met thousands of people the last ten years, got to know hundreds and been to hundreds of dinners.

He added that «I have a principle, and if I break that, I open up to everything else as well.»

— I have met thousands of people and got to know hundreds, and I don’t want to talk about any of them, as I have not received permission from them to do so, said Jagland.

When asked again whether he has met Epstein more than that one time, and what he makes of having received a sex offender in Strasbourg, Jagland says:

— I have answered as to what kind of meeting this was. Bill Gates asked for it and explained why. He brought other people, including from IPI. I didn’t have a routine of assessing the companions of the people I had meetings with.

Jagland adds that he is working on the second volume of his memoirs, where he will describe his relevant international contacts and interests.

NOBEL PRIZE

DN has asked Jagland if he sees an issue with the chair of the Nobel Committee inviting a possible Nobel Peaze Prize laureate into his home. In an e-mail, Jagland states that «Bill Gates was not nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2013».

According toe the Nobel Committee, the foundation is unable to comment as the names of those nominated for the Prize is kept secret for 50 years.

— It is contrary to our statutes to comment on who is nominated each year, the current leader, Berit Reiss-Andersen, writes in an e-mail.

She will not comment directly on Jagland’s meeting with Gates:

— In the Nobel Committee, we have internal rules that says that all members themselves must make notice of any incapacities or other matters considered important for the decision-making process. I cannot share anything from any discussions we may have had,

writes Reiss-Andersen.

Jagland says he has not shared secrets from the Nobel Committee:

— My notion that Bill Gates was not nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2013 was based on publicly available information. As you know, every year the most likely candidates get known as soon as the list is finished I February, March. That list was similar to the formal list, also that year.

Did the late sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein help co-found and fund the Clinton Foundation?

Attorneys for convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein touted his close friendship with Bill Clinton and even claimed the billionaire helped start Clinton’s controversial family foundation in a 2007 letter aimed at boosting his image during plea negotiations, FoxNews.com has learned.

The 23-page letter, written by high-powered lawyers Alan Dershowitz and Gerald Lefcourt, was apparently part of an ultimately successful bid to negotiate a plea deal before Epstein could be tried for using underage girls in a sex ring based in Palm Beach, Fla., and his private island estate on the 72-acre Virgin Islands home dubbed “Orgy Island.” Epstein spent 13 months in prison and home detention after agreeing to a plea deal in which he admitted to soliciting an underage girl for prostitution.

“Mr. Epstein was part of the original group that conceived the Clinton Global Initiative, which is described as a project ‘bringing together a community of global leaders to devise and implement innovative solutions to some of the world’s most pressing challenges,” read the July 2007 letter to the U.S. Attorney’s office in the Southern District of Florida. “Focuses of this initiative include poverty, climate change, global health, and religious and ethnic conflicts.”

The hedge fund magnate’s true role in creating the foundation could not be confirmed. Whether Epstein was an actual founder of the foundation or exaggerated his role in a phony effort to appear altruistic is not clear.

Epstein is not cited in official paperwork filed by the Clinton Global Initiative as a founder or director. Neither The Clinton Foundation nor Dershowitz responded to FoxNews.com’s inquiry as to the extent of Epstein’s involvement. FoxNews.com first reported that flight logs show the former president flew on Epstein’s private plane dozens of times. But Clinton has publicly credited longtime assistant Doug Band, now counselor and director of the foundation, as conceiving of the idea.

The foundation has raised hundreds of millions of dollars, ostensibly for charitable works in places such as Haiti and Africa. But questions have arisen about how much of the donations actually went to aiding the poor, and critics have accused the Clintons of using it as a slush fund.

Flight logs show Clinton flew on Epstein’s private jet dozens of times

Attorneys describe the foundation, which has undergone name changes since its formation in 2005, as designed “to convene world leaders, forward-looking CEOs, and philanthropists to commit to take action on pressing global challenges.”

In an effort to emphasize Epstein’s close ties to Clinton before he was sentenced, his lawyers also credited Epstein with “hosting” a trip to Africa in 2002 on his private Boeing 727 for the Clinton Global Initiative, which Clinton himself attended, along with actor Kevin Spacey and comedian Chris Tucker, and other celebrities, purportedly for an anti-AIDS and economic-development mission.

“In a feature article about Mr. Epstein in New Yorker magazine, former President Clinton aptly described Mr. Epstein as a ‘committed philanthropist with a keen sense of global markets and an in-depth knowledge of 21st century science,’” Epstein’s lawyers wrote. “President Clinton reached this conclusion during a monthlong trip to Africa with Mr. Epstein, which Mr. Epstein hosted. The purpose of that trip was to increase AIDS awareness; to work toward a solution to the AIDS crisis; and to provide funding to reduce the costs of delivering medications to those inflicted with the disease.”

Epstein also has supported the Clinton Foundation financially, but that was not made public until two years ago when a whistle-blower released the names of the super-rich, including Epstein, who held Swiss accounts at the HSBC bank.

The International Consortium of Investigative Journalists, which obtained the data from the whistle-blower, documented $81 million being routed from HSBC Swiss accounts to The Clinton Foundation, including money from Epstein.

Epstein had various accounts totaling $3.5 million, the investigative journalists group revealed and, in 2006, directed $25,000 to The Clinton Foundation.

The close association between Epstein and Clinton is just one example of their personal and professional ties running much deeper than previously made public.

A FoxNews.com investigation in May showed the former president was a frequent flier on Epstein’s infamous jet, dubbed the “Lolita Express,” which earned its Nabakov-inspired nickname because it was reportedly outfitted with a bed where passengers had group sex with young girls.

Flight logs obtained exclusively by FoxNews.com show the former president taking at least 26 trips around the world aboard the “Lolita Express” — even apparently ditching his Secret Service detail for at least five of the flights.

Epstein and his attorneys have said in multiple court filings that he has been the subject of the “most outlandish and offensive attacks, allegations, and plain inventions.”

However, hundreds of pages of court records, including reports from law enforcement, reviewed by FoxNews.com, show Epstein was under close scrutiny by the Palm Beach police and FBI for more than a year.

The U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida prepared charging documents that accused Epstein of child sex abuse, witness tampering and money laundering, but Epstein took a plea deal before an indictment could be handed up.

On Sept. 24, 2007, in a deal shrouded in secrecy that left alleged victims shocked at its leniency, Epstein agreed to a 30-month sentence, including 18 months of jail time and 12 months of house arrest and the agreement to pay dozens of young girls under a federal statute providing for compensation to victims of child sexual abuse. In exchange, the U.S. Attorney’s Office promised not to pursue any federal charges against Epstein or his co-conspirators.

In a highly unusual civil lawsuit, Florida attorney Brad Edwards, and Paul Cassell, a former federal judge who represented some of Epstein’s alleged victims, are suing the federal government over the secret non-prosecution agreement in hopes of having it overturned, so that Epstein could potentially face additional criminal charges.

Robert Maxwell rose rocketlike into the stratosphere of international prominence, leaving a trail of sparks behind him as he burst brilliantly on the world scene. As his brilliance faded with the collapse of his business empire, and the world’s attention turned to new events and crises, his name drifted into obscurity. The story of Maxwell’s life, however, far transcends the brilliant flash of public display.

Authors Gordon and Dillon resurrect the life of Robert Maxwell, reconstructing this man who was born in 1923 to Jewish parents living in the obscure Polish village of Slatinske Doly. As a young man, he transformed himself into an English gentleman and World War II hero who was decorated by Field Marshal Montgomery himself with the Military Cross for bravery under fire. In Great Britain, Maxwell climbed to dizzying heights of power, wealth and prestige.

The authors’ wonderfully detailed biography is based on multiple sources and interviews with 54 people who had intimate knowledge of Maxwell and his life. In addition, 21 other contacts supplied information that enriched the many details of Maxwell’s personality, character, skills and foibles. The end result is a multi-faceted portrayal of a person with immense personal skills—and, unfortunately, many flaws. His biographers divide Maxwell’s many lives—all of which he lived with consummate skill and supreme confidence—into four different and significant life trajectories: public, family, criminal, and spy.

His public life as a media baron paralleled the life of William Randolph Hearst in many of its details. At his financial apogee, Maxwell owned over 400 companies. From the ninth floor of Maxwell House in London, he directed his vast business empire, relishing his role as a potentate of publishing, communications, printing, technology, property, currencies, gilts, and shares. He bought companies and pillaged and sold their valuable assets piecemeal—always for a handsome profit. With his prodigious memory and his many minions, he managed to keep track of all his holdings, always manipulating them to his business advantage and the unfortunate disadvantage of his business partners, bankers and creditors.

Maxwell entertained with lavish abandon, sweetening his business proposals with ample doses of rich surroundings, women, vintage wines, champagne and abundant caviar. Using a combination of arrogance and charm, he met and successfully engaged in business deals with leaders in the rarified atmosphere of international finance and politics. He was noted for his obsessive and shameless self-aggrandizement via his London newspaper, The Mirror. Even his closest associates were astounded by Maxwell’s personal vanity. Those who knew him intimately observed that he frequently played fast and loose with the truth.

Once his empire began to founder, his creditors discovered that Maxwell had used the same assets multiple times to serve as collateral for his prodigious debt. In the end, it became impossible for him to continue juggling his assets, and Maxwell’s empire collapsed. Bankruptcy was finally declared, with debts amounting to more than $1 billion—the largest in British bankruptcy history.

Maxwell’s family life, like that of many people deeply obsessed with making fortunes, was almost non-existent in his later years. In 1944, he married Elizabeth Maynard, the daughter of a French silk merchant, in Paris. Although he remained faithful for a while, he eventually became a flagrant philanderer, bedding a succession of leggy blonde secretaries whom he showered with expensive gifts and vague promises of marriage after his divorce (which did not happen).

His wife, Betty, rarely saw him, instead spending her lonely days at their country estate, Headington Hill Hall, raising their nine children. Their youngest, Ghislaine, was Maxwell’s favorite, and he named his beloved yacht, Lady Ghislaine, after her. Two of his sons, Kevin and Iain, joined him in his business affairs and managed the final frantic search for additional funds to keep Maxwell’s foundering empire afloat.

Maxwell’s criminal activities began early in his career, culminating when the collapse of the Eastern Bloc set the stage for a feeding frenzy of fraud, deceit and theft of state assets. KGB and other Eastern Bloc intelligence agents—with whom Maxwell already had established contacts—moved into the business world following the breakup of the Soviet empire, and became the sharks that devoured the assets of state resources for their own ends. The underworld flourished, and Maxwell was there to help himself to a hefty 15 to 20 percent cut as he laundered their money through Bulgaria and Western banks. Soon, Maxwell had links to criminals who dealt in illegal arms, prostitution, money laundering, drugs, and contract killings—all of whom used Maxwell to launder their profits.

Probably the most audacious illegal business project with which Maxwell involved himself was Bulgaria’s Neva network. The concept was simple: plunder Western technology through secret agents, produce the same technology in Eastern Bloc nations, particularly Bulgaria, then sell the goods to the Eastern markets. Maxwell set up the companies to carry out the work, then laundered the profits through his network of banks.

At its inception, Maxwell did not envision that Neva would grow into one of the most powerful crime syndicates in the world, embracing the Russian mafia, the crime families of Bulgaria, as well as those in New York, Hong Kong and Japan. All the companies Maxwell formed eventually would come under one name—Multi-Group—which controlled a significant percentage of global profits from gas, telecommunications, oil, gambling, and money laundering.

In contrast to his criminal pursuits, Maxwell’s life as a spy did not begin immediately. Following World War II, he dabbled in intelligence work at Berlin’s Spandau Prison, where he interrogated captured Nazi leaders and gained a reputation as a skilled interviewer. He was good enough to be offered a position with British MI6 as a “super contact person.” Maxwell did not accept the offer, however, and was soon classified by MI6 as a “Zionist—loyal only to Israel” and a person to be watched.

When asked to spy for Israel’s Mossad, Israel’s CIA, Maxwell eagerly accepted because of his great love for Israel—although the money he made in Israel was also to his liking. Following a visit to Israel Maxwell said that he had traveled everywhere in the world and Israel was the only place where he felt at home. In Israel he found the faith he thought he had lost. Viewing himself as a savior of Israel’s ailing industries, he shrewdly bought ailing Israeli companies and turned them into successful enterprises. Some of the companies became covers for Mossad. Maxwell also used his many contacts in the Russian government to work tirelessly to enable Russian Jews to immigrate to Israel.

As Maxwell made his rounds from capital to capital, meeting world leaders and exchanging gossip with them, the Mossad used him as its eyes and ears. The spy agency saw him as someone who could pass through any door in any capital and learn secrets to which even the Mossad could not be privy. Maxwell also become a source of information for his intelligence contacts in the Eastern Bloc, including the KGB.

Robert Maxwell traveled the world and peddled Promis, software the Israelis stole from Inslaw, the American company that developed the program. Promis could track data on any target subject by querying and integrating information from innumerable electronic databases, without requiring reprogramming.

The theft took place when the Mossad’s Rafi Eitan traveled to the United States impersonating an assistant prosecutor in the Israeli Ministry of Justice in Tel Aviv and met with William Hamilton, the inventor of Promis, at Inslaw. After his meeting with Hamilton, Eitan immediately went to the Department of Justice, and, through serendipity, acquired a copy of Promis. Eiten then worked through former Mossad agent Ari Ben Menashe, who found Yahuda Ben-Hanan in California’s Silicon Valley to construct a back door to the program. A former worker on Jeffrey Epstein’s Caribbean island claims that he saw Bill Clinton there in an explosive new Netflix documentary.

The claims run contrary to denials by Clinton that he ever visited the island, which was reportedly the site of multiple sexual assaults of underage women by the convicted pedophile Epstein and his elite guests.

The claims are made by Steve Scully, a 70-year-old phone and internet specialist worker who was present on the island of Little Saint James, as part of Jeffrey Epstein: Filthy Rich, which features testimony from witnesses and victims of Epstein’s sordid activities.

Scully claims that he saw the Clinton sitting with Epstein in the porch of the island’s villa. Scully did not witness Clinton partaking in any illegal activity, however, and says no other guests were present at the time.

Scully says that he saw other ‘important people’ visiting the island, including Prince Andrew, adding that some would be naked and flanked by topless girls.

“You tell yourself that you didn’t know for sure and you never really saw anything, but that’s all just rationalization,” Scully notes in the program, adding “Jeffrey Epstein, he was a guy who concealed his deviance very well – but he didn’t conceal it that well.”

Previous claims made by Epstein’s ‘sex slave’ Virginia Roberts Giuffre in legal papers also place Clinton on the island.

Giuffre alleged she had dinner with the former president, Epstein, alleged ‘madam’ Ghislaine Maxwell and two other women from New York on the island on one occasion.

Giuffre also said that she saw Clinton “strolling into the darkness with two beautiful girls around either arm.”

Clinton’s office previously issued a statement in regards to his travels on the plane and denied knowing anything about the financier’s crimes.

Davies claims she was sexually abused by Epstein for several years and finally escaped his clutches in 2005.

In July 2019 she was interviewed by the FBI and the Assistant Attorney General of New Mexico. Epstein was arrested and charged in New York five days later. He committed suicide inside his jail cell in August.
